Dan in Ju-Jitsu in 2009. Sensei Terry Boorer is highly respected within the martial arts community and is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction and training to students at Wolverhampton Ju-Jitsu Club.

The club itself has a rich history, having been established 29 years ago and is one of the oldest registered Ju-Jitsu clubs in the Midlands. The primary focus of the club is on teaching the Japanese martial art of Ju-Jitsu, as well as self-defence and Atemijutsu. Ju-Jitsu incorporates a combination of grappling, strikes, blocks, holds, locks, chokes, immobilisation, and throws to overcome opponents. It is an incredibly effective form of self-defence and offers a comprehensive physical workout suitable for individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

The instructors at Wolverhampton Ju-Jitsu Club are highly qualified, holding NVQ Level 3 qualifications in Teaching & Coaching in addition to recognised coaching courses from the dai nippon butoku kai. All instructors have also undergone CRB checks to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

The club is part of the Korekushon Jujitsu Association, which includes other clubs in the Midlands. This affiliation allows for a sense of community and the opportunity for students to participate in interclub events and competitions. Sensei Terry Boorer, the Chief Instructor of the club, brings over 40 years of martial arts experience to his role. He began his journey with Ju-Jitsu at the International Association of Traditional Martial Arts (IATMA) in Wolverhampton, under the tutelage of the late professor George Wilson. He then joined the United Kingdom Ju-Jitsu Association (UKJJA), where he trained in the style of Myshin Ryu. Sensei Terry has achieved numerous black belt ranks and has represented his associations in competitions internationally.

In 1991, Sensei Terry Boorer was awarded his first black belt, 1st Dan, and thereafter became the sole instructor of what was then known as Torakai Ju-Jitsu Club, which later became Wolverhampton Ju-jitsu Club. Over the years, he has continued to earn higher ranks and expand his knowledge of martial arts, including Shotokan Karate and Ko Budo.

Wolverhampton Ju-Jitsu Club offers a comprehensive syllabus of training, leading to graded belts that allow students to track their progression and achievements. The club aims to foster a sense of personal growth, physical fitness, personal safety, and self-confidence through the practise of traditional Japanese Ju-Jitsu.
