Winton Bridge Club, in Winton, New Zealand, is part of the Otago Southland Regional Bridge and NZ Bridge. Established in 1972, it quickly raised funds for its own club rooms by 1974. With 103 members, it's a lively place for bridge enthusiasts.
One standout feature is their computerised scoring programme, making sure results are accurate and efficient. They also deal boards randomly for all sessions, keeping things fresh and exciting for everyone.
Every year, the club offers bridge lessons at a small cost, which includes a year's membership. Lessons start on the 10th of March. New players are more than welcome to join and hone their skills.
You'll find the Winton Bridge Club at 145 Park Street, Winton—just one street west of the main road, behind the shops. For questions, call 03 236 7892 or email [email protected]. Postal mail goes to PO Box 115, Winton 9741.
If you're keen to join and take part in free introductory bridge lessons, head to the club rooms in March. Lessons are held weekly. Wendy Boniface is your go-to for details—call her at 03 221 7417 or 027 427 0447.
The club is led by President Pam Macleod, with a team including Senior VP Keith Brinkworth, Junior VP Kevin Skoropada, Secretary Donna Skoropada, Tournament Secretary Wendy Boniface, and Treasurer Henry Wadworth. Committee members are Wendy Boniface, Annette Coppus, Rae Dorricott, Dianne Evans, Jill Gibson-Smith, Richard Hishon, Jenny Smith, and Margaret Wright.
