Citizens in Winnipeg came together to establish the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club, making it one of the oldest tennis clubs in Manitoba. Over the years, the club has grown and evolved, but its commitment to promoting the game of tennis remains unwavering.
Located on the banks of the Red River in the scenic Wildwood area, the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club boasts 11 newly resurfaced Plexipave hard courts. These courts are equipped with professional lighting for evening play, allowing members to enjoy tennis at any time of day.
The club is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned tournament players. Throughout the season, the club organizes leagues, clinics, and competitive events for members to participate in. Lessons with the Tennis Pro can be arranged at reasonable rates, catering to players looking to improve their game.
For younger players, the club offers a variety of summer camps and programs in a fun and safe environment. Juniors as young as 6 years old can learn the fundamentals of tennis and develop their skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.
In addition to its focus on tennis, the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club also places an emphasis on the social aspect of the sport. Various social events are held throughout the season, providing members with opportunities to connect with fellow players and enjoy the camaraderie of the club.
The club is managed by a dedicated team, led by Manager Alix Younger. The Board of Directors, comprising individuals with a passion for tennis, oversees the club's operations and ensures its continued success. With a rich history dating back to 1881, the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club remains a top destination for tennis enthusiasts in Winnipeg.
