Welcome to Willesden and Brent Chess Club! Located in the borough of Brent, our club offers a welcoming and friendly environment for chess enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. We are proud to welcome individuals from all walks of life and strive to provide a space where everyone can enjoy the game of chess.
At Willesden and Brent Chess Club, we are committed to promoting chess at all levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, our club offers a range of chess games, competitions, and tuition opportunities to cater to your needs. Our dedicated team organises club competitions and provides coaching to junior players, helping them develop their skills and passion for the game.
In addition to our regular club activities, members of Willesden and Brent Chess Club have the opportunity to participate in local chess leagues and compete in inter-county matches. We are proud to represent our club and showcase our skills in these competitive events.
Operating out of two venues, we offer chess sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the year. Every Monday, except for bank holidays, we meet at Cricklewood Library, located at 152 Olive Road, London, NW2 6UY. Our main session welcomes players of all abilities from 6pm to 9pm, with junior coaching taking place from 6pm to 7:15pm (excluding school and public holidays).
Every Wednesday, from September 1 to June 30, our club meets at Chalkhill Community Centre (Welford Centre), situated at 113 Chalkhill Road, Wembley HA9 9FX. Our main session on Wednesdays, also open to players of all abilities, runs from 7:15pm to 10pm.
We are honoured to have been recognised by the English Chess Federation (ECF) as a Development Pathway Junior Club. This prestigious award acknowledges the high level of support and opportunities we provide to our junior members, nurturing their understanding and love for chess.
Willesden and Brent Chess Club is proud to be a member of the Young Brent Foundation and a supporter of the City of Sanctuary. We extend our gratitude to our supporters, including the Brent Schools Chess League, Chalkhill Community Centre, Cricklewood Library and Brent Library Services, One Sports Club, and UK Unsigned Chess. We are thankful for the financial support we have received from partner organisations.
Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date with the latest news and activities at our club. If you're looking for a slower-paced chess experience, we encourage you to consider county chess, where you'll enjoy a leisurely time control and ample opportunity to think through your moves. Check out the Middlesex County and Southern Counties Chess Union for more information on county chess opportunities.
