Wild Rose Highland Dance Studio (WRHDS) in Calgary is dedicated to providing high quality dance instruction in a fun and engaging atmosphere while fostering a lifelong appreciation for Scotland's traditional highland dance. Catering to students aged 4 and up, WRHDS offers a range of classes for beginners of all ages.
At WRHDS, we believe in a holistic approach to dance education, allowing students to participate in a variety of activities to develop their physical literacy. Our classes incorporate fun activities like "Highland Hopscotch" and jump rope to encourage skill improvement, along with choreography work for older dancers to challenge themselves with new steps.
With a focus on inclusivity and skill development, WRHDS offers two adult instructors per class and accepts new students throughout the year. Exams, run through the Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance (SDTA), are available for interested dancers in the fall. Recreational and competitive dancers are mixed together at all levels, with the option to compete for those interested.
The team at WRHDS is led by Ms Kaaren, a professional Highland dancer with a passion for sharing her love of dance with her students. With a background in ballet, jazz, and tap, Ms Kaaren aims to instill a lifelong desire to dance in all her students. Joined by instructors Ms Jamie, Ms Alix, and Ms Erica, the team at WRHDS is dedicated to providing educational, fun, and challenging classes to dancers of all ages and skill levels.
