Stephen and Suzanne invite you to join Whirl & Twirl RDC Barrow in Bury Saint Edmunds! Founded in 2007 by Ted and Irene Baldry, this friendly dance club is all about round dancing. Since moving to Barrow Village Hall in 2012, they’ve kept the vibe lively with popular open dances and annual events like the Spring Fling and Halloween Fancy Dress. In 2015, they even hosted the Rounds Festival, drawing dancers from across the UK.
The club runs on a committee-based structure, and Stephen and Suzanne, the Club Cuers, kept the spirit alive during the pandemic by creating national reopening guidelines and fun dance videos, including sessions on the beach!
Since reopening in late 2021, the club now meets Wednesday evenings at Cottenham and added a monthly Sunday afternoon session in 2022. Whirl & Twirl RDC Barrow is all about a safe, welcoming environment where dancers of all levels can learn and have fun. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or just starting, you’ll find a place here.
Round Dancing is a non-competitive, enjoyable social activity for all ages and abilities. With a Cuer guiding you, you'll easily follow the announced steps. This makes the dance accessible and perfect for finding your own “comfort zone.”
Not only is round dancing great exercise for the body and mind, but it also lets you dance to a mix of music, from Waltz to Rumba to Tango. Stephen and Suzanne aim to make every session relaxed and fun, connecting people who love to dance.
