On a Monday evening in September 1961, with just 15 tables in play, the Whakatane Contract Bridge Club began its journey.
Located at 167 Commerce St, Whakatane, the club is a hub for bridge players of all skill levels. Each week, they offer several playing times to fit different schedules. Join Bo Holmes on Mondays at 7:00 pm, Diane Green on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm with an afternoon tea break, Eric Burnie on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, or Jan Jarrett on Fridays at 10:30 am where a lunch break is included (BYO).
Run by President Christine Wood, Secretary Janet Milbank, Club Captain Julie Meekel, and Treasurer Rex Tulloch, the club welcomes both new residents and visitors. Committee members Sue McKenzie, Jenny Jones, Bronwyn Kamphorst, Sally Shaw, and Jane Gebert ensure everything runs smoothly.
Full membership is $60 annually, with an associate membership at $45. Payments can be made to their bank account: 12-3253-0042739-00 at the Whakatane ASB branch.
