They work closely with the Commodore and the Executive Committee to ensure that the boats are in good working condition for all members to enjoy. Alex Williams, Social Director The Social Director is responsible for planning and organizing social events for club members.
From BBQs to themed parties, the Social Director ensures that there are plenty of opportunities for members to connect and have fun off the water. Kevin Smith, Membership Director The Membership Director is responsible for overseeing membership applications, renewals, and inquiries. Westwood Sailing Club is the perfect place for sailors of all levels to enjoy the beauty of Lake Ontario and connect with a vibrant sailing community in the heart of Toronto. Since 1967, this not-for-profit co-operative club has provided affordable access to sailing, offering members full access to a fleet of dinghy sailboats, waterfront clubhouse, sailing lessons, racing events, and social gatherings.
Located near Cherry Beach, Westwood Sailing Club offers a “cottage in the city” vibe, allowing members to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life while still being conveniently close to downtown Toronto. The club is run by an elected 12-member volunteer Executive Committee, ensuring that all operations are managed efficiently and in the best interest of the members.
Members have the opportunity to participate in racing events such as the Friday Night Race Series, Harbour Master Sundays, and weekend Regattas, which are friendly, competitive, and a lot of fun! Westwood Sailing Club also offers sailing lessons accredited by SailCanada, teaching CANSail Levels 1 & 2 to provide members with the skills and confidence to sail various sailboats.
The club's Executive Committee, led by Commodore Julia Ballerio-Dup, is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all members.
