In 2022, Westown Golf Club milled all the pine trees around the course and replaced them with 2500 native trees, creating a more inviting environment for bird life. The club also actively participates in a trapping programme to support Towards Predator Free Taranaki, with traps being checked weekly by dedicated volunteers.

With a long-term commitment to junior golf, Westown Golf Club strives to become a leading club for junior development in North Taranaki within the next five years. The programme caters to boys and girls aged 5 to 18, with each term involving a grading system that assigns participants to specific groups based on their ability and understanding of golf.
