Louise, the organiser of the West Midlands Golf League, would like to share some information with the sports community about our league.
Founded in 1967, the West Midlands Golf League is a non-profit-making golf club located in West Bromwich. With 36 member clubs, our league aims to promote golf and friendship through competitive handicap golf. Administration is handled electronically via email, online banking, and a dedicated website.
Each zone in the league is managed by a Zone Secretary. They update fixtures, results, and other details on the website. The League Committee includes the Zone Secretary, Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary, and a full balance sheet is presented at the Annual General Meeting each year.
We organise two main trophies: the Roberts-Levine Trophy and the Lewis Trophy. The Roberts-Levine Trophy is awarded to the league champions of the year. The top two clubs from each zone, along with the four best third-place clubs, enter the knockout stage. Matches are played home and away, with the final at a neutral venue.
The Lewis Trophy is for clubs that don’t qualify for the Roberts-Levine. Here, the third and fourth place clubs in each zone compete. These matches are also knockout style, with the final held at a neutral venue.
Louise and the team invite golf clubs in the West Midlands and surrounding areas to join. We are a non-profit organisation, and the annual subscription fee goes towards administration costs. Our mission is to promote golf and build friendships among members. If you're interested, please get in touch. We can arrange a meeting to discuss membership details.
With our long-standing history and commitment to competitive golf, the West Midlands Golf League offers a platform for golfers in the West Bromwich area to showcase their skills and form lasting relationships.
