West London Sulkido is a well-established martial arts club located in London, United Kingdom. The term “Sulkido” comes from the Korean words “Sul Bop,” which means the methods of martial arts, “Ki Bop,” which refers to the inner power of the mind and universal life force, and “Do Bop,” which signifies the ways of uniting the mind and body through self-discipline. In essence, Sulkido is the martial art of power coordination, allowing practitioners to achieve physical and mental harmony.
West London Sulkido traces its roots back to the founding of Sulkido in the United Kingdom in 1973 by Grand Master Mok Yang Kim. Grand Master Kim, who held qualifications as a Master Instructor in both Hap Ki Do and Tae Kwon Do, developed his own unique style of martial arts known as “British Kuk Sool,” melding the techniques and principles of both disciplines. In 1981, British Kuk Sool was renamed Sulkido.
After the passing of Grand Master Mok Yang Kim in 1991, Chief Master Instructor M. Kim, the younger brother of Grand Master Kim, assumed leadership of Sulkido. He has dedicated his life to further developing and promoting this martial art, upholding its traditions and values.
Throughout the year, West London Sulkido actively participates in various events organised by the United Kingdom Sul Ki Do Federation (UKSF). These events include national gradings and instructor training seminars, where students have the opportunity to test their skills and expand their knowledge.
