Western Australian Throwers Inc is a sports club based in Perth, Western Australia. As a collective voice for coaches, officials, and athletes across all clubs and associations in WA, the club is dedicated to the development of the throws disciplines of Track and Field Athletics.
The club welcomes all throwers in WA, including Juniors (13 years old and above), Para-Athletes, Masters, and Opens. It encourages participation from all throwers within the WA Athletics community, regardless of whether they compete with WATC or any other club within WA. The club boasts a diverse membership ranging in age from 13 to 82, including Little Athletics State Champions, WAIS and AIS identified Juniors, Open State Champions, Australian & World Record Holders, and Masters World Champions.
The club's vision is to provide a support network for all throwers, coaches, and officials, from grassroots to International level. They aim to increase the participation of throwers at all levels, fostering fairness, credibility, and a supportive environment. Participation is encouraged in a competitive, educated, and supportive manner.
The club takes actions in advocacy, communication, education, recruitment, and retention to achieve their vision and goals. They actively advocate for the throws disciplines of athletics, communicate with their members and stakeholders, provide educational resources and opportunities, and work towards recruiting and retaining throwers in the sport.
The club holds various events throughout the year, both local and national, and even international. They provide opportunities for throwers of all levels to compete and showcase their skills.
Membership options cater to the entire throwing community. Ordinary members are active participants in sanctioned events as WATC athletes. Affiliate members are members of the club who are also part of another club. Associate members include coaches, officials, parents, partners, and cheer squads.
Junior members are under the age of 15 and can be ordinary or affiliate members. Honorary members are bestowed this status as per the club's constitution, and life members receive lifelong membership in accordance with the constitution.
The club values fairness, credibility, and the participation of all its members. They strive to create a supportive and inclusive community for throwers at all levels. Many members have experienced personal growth and achieved goals they never thought possible through their involvement with the club.
