The Western Australian Flying Disc Association, a renowned Ultimate Frisbee club in Perth, is thrilled to announce the upcoming Western Regionals, our very own WA State Ultimate Championships. This highly anticipated event has been a local tradition since 2007 and is considered the pinnacle of separate gender Ultimate Frisbee competition in WA.
But why is it so special, you might wonder? Well, the Western Regionals serve as the ultimate qualification tournament for teams aspiring to compete at the prestigious Australian Ultimate Championships Division I or Division II events. It's a chance for talented players to showcase their skills and earn a spot among the best in the country.
To ensure fair play and maintain the high standards of the sport, the tournament strictly adheres to the 2017 WFDF rules of play. Safety is of utmost importance, so participants are not allowed to wear steel sprigs, uncovered jewellery, or watches. However, wearing appropriate shoes is mandatory for all players.
The tournament will consist of intense matches, each with 15 points and 80-minute time slots. To keep the players energised, there will be a 5-minute break after one team has scored 8 points. And remember, if a team forfeits, it results in a 15-nil score, so every point matters.
At the end of each game, teams must submit their scores and cast their votes for the Most Valuable Player using our convenient online scheduling system. In the instance of tied scores, we will employ the WFDF Ranking Criteria and Tie Breakers to determine the victor.
So, if you're into Ultimate Frisbee and want to witness the thrilling battle of skill, agility, and teamwork, mark your calendars for the Western Regionals. Trust us, you won't want to miss the chance to see some of Western Australia's finest athletes in action.
Get ready to witness Ultimate Frisbee at its best!
