On 21st June 1941, Westerhope Golf Club was officially established, thanks to a green light from the Duke of Northumberland to build on land at Whorlton Grange, Westerhope. The course was designed by Sandy Herd, a well-known golfer who clinched the Open Championship in 1902.
Westerhope Golf Club, just 4.5 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne’s centre and a mile from the A1, features a parkland-style course stretching 6392 yards from the Members' tees. It’s a course that's got something for everyone, offering a walkable and enjoyable layout suitable for all ages.
