Join the Reading Tango Club in partnership with London Tango Academy for weekly Argentine Tango classes. Known for their high-quality teaching, the passionate and experienced teachers at Reading Tango Club will guide you through the beautiful and improvised Argentine Tango that can be danced socially anywhere in the world.
The classes focus on teaching the basics of connecting with a partner, leading and following, walking elegantly, and mastering simple turns. You will also learn lovely sequences to blend steps and movement into something unique.
For beginners, a new course will start in February 2024. Drop-in classes are available on Wednesday evenings for basic technique. Intermediate and advanced level classes are also available on Wednesday evenings at The Abbey School. Additionally, there are Saturday afternoon classes for fine-tuning your Tango/Vals and Milonga, as well as a Fundamentals of Tango class.
Don't miss the chance to develop the quality of movement, musicality, interpretation, and connection in your Tango. The classes are taught by Valentina and Orlando from Oxford Tango Academy.
The classes take place at The Abbey School located at Kendrick Rd, RG1 5DZ. The price per class is £12, with a student rate of £6 for those with a valid NUS card. COVID-19 protocols are in place to ensure everyone's safety. Please refrain from attending classes if you are unwell and consider wearing a mask if you prefer. It is recommended to bring your own drink container.
After every class, the teachers provide demonstrations of the elements taught and explain each movement. Individual feedback is given to students, and sometimes drills are incorporated into the class to enhance learning. The teachers, Adrien Baraki-Alaoui and Iro Davlanti, focus on body mechanics and dance to add fluency and elegance to movement.
Classes are not only informative but also fun, with a sense of humour incorporated into the teaching. There is a practica session at the end of each class for students to practice what they have learned and gain confidence.
