And she wanted to bring that passion and experience back to her hometown of Jandakot.
Donna, on the other hand, has a background in dance and gymnastics. She has always loved being active and pushing herself physically. Donna understands the importance of discipline and perseverance in both sports and wanted to create a space where athletes can thrive and grow.
Together, Sam and Donna combined their knowledge and expertise to create Waves Cheer & Tumble, a sports club dedicated to cheerleading and gymnastics. Their mission is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for athletes of all ages and levels to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
At Waves Cheer & Tumble, they prioritise the holistic growth of their athletes. They believe that sports can teach valuable life lessons, such as respect, trust, leadership, commitment, punctuality, responsibility, independence, and teamwork. Their experienced and dynamic coaching staff are not only skilled in their craft but also genuinely care about the athletes they work with. The coaches at Waves Cheer & Tumble go beyond the mat to build genuine connexions and foster personal growth in their athletes.
The club offers a variety of programmes to cater to different needs and interests. Their competitive cheer programme is designed for more experienced athletes between the ages of 8-18. It requires a high level of commitment and dedication from team members. Athletes in the competitive programme have the opportunity to participate in events and competitions as part of the Waves team.
Waves Cheer & Tumble also has an events team that requires additional training hours per week. This squad attends events and showcases determined by the club, such as cheering at the Willetton Tigers NBL1 Basketball games.
For those interested in tumbling skills, the club offers a dedicated tumble programme. Athletes in this programme work on various tumbling aspects of cheerleading, from cartwheels to back handsprings. The classes are run on a week-to-week basis to ensure progressive skill development.
The club also caters to younger athletes with their pre-school toddler time programme. Designed for children aged 2 to 4 years old, this casual programme provides a safe and fun environment for toddlers to explore basic motor skills and coordination.
The recreational cheer programme is perfect for beginner athletes between the ages of 4 to 14. Athletes train for one hour per week to focus on developing their skills and building a strong foundation in cheerleading.
In addition to these programmes, Waves Cheer & Tumble offers private lessons for athletes who want more personalised attention to work on their skills. These lessons can be taken individually or in small groups.
