Watford (Cassiobury) Croquet Club has four courts, including a new one opened in 2019, all leased from Watford Borough Council. The croquet season runs from April to September, perfect for making the most of the warmer months.
With around 80 members from beginners to experts, the club is great for players of all levels. Newcomers can look forward to a friendly welcome, equipment loan, and coaching sessions to get started.
Croquet has been played in Cassiobury since the 19th century. At Watford (Cassiobury) Croquet Club, you can try both Association Croquet and Golf Croquet. Association Croquet is challenging and strategic, with matches often lasting several hours. The club competes locally and nationally.
Golf Croquet, easier to pick up, takes just 20 to 40 minutes per game and has become a favourite for beginners and social occasions. The club participates in local leagues and hosts a one-day Open Tournament.
Throughout the season, there are plenty of internal competitions and open tournaments for all skill levels, with a fair handicapping system ensuring everyone has a chance to enjoy and win.
Prospective members can try croquet for free during over 100 open days throughout the season. Just drop by during regular club sessions to join in and see if croquet is your new passion.
