WaterLions Swim School

WaterLions Swim School, located in the heart of New Market, Auckland, has been providing quality swimming lessons since its establishment in 2002. Founded by Olympic Champion Igor Polianski and his wife Larissa Polianskaia, WaterLions is dedicated to passing on their passion and experience in swimming to the next generation through their comprehensive swimming programme.

Both Igor and Larissa have impressive swimming backgrounds, having represented Russia in the National Swimming team. Igor, in particular, achieved great success, winning three medals at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, including a gold medal in the 200m backstroke. His world record in this event stood for an impressive six years. Larissa was also highly accomplished in breaststroke and was part of the USSR national squad along with Igor.

WaterLions Swim School follows a step-by-step programme designed by Igor and Larissa, ensuring that swimmers progress with quality and efficiency. The swim school caters to swimmers aged 5 to 19 years and offers different pathways as swimmers get older. The school is passionate about identifying and nurturing talented swimmers, working closely with United Swimming Club to guide competitive swimmers in their training programmes.

The school operates from two convenient locations: Epsom Girls Grammar School and Cornwall Park Primary School. They offer free assessments for new students, allowing them to determine the appropriate level and class for each swimmer. The school's term dates are well-planned, with four terms per year, and breaks for public holidays and special occasions.
