Waterlilly Swim School in Gunnedah is a swimming facility dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for children and adults in the water. The swim school offers a range of classes designed to cater to different age groups and skill levels.
The school's main objective is to ensure that children learn how to have a safe and enjoyable time in the water. With a passion for excellence in water education, the instructors at Waterlilly Swim School are committed to building water confidence and ability in their students.
Classes at Waterlilly Swim School start from baby swim, which is a developmental programme specifically designed for babies and toddlers from 6 months of age. This programme provides a wonderful learning and socialisation experience for both children and parents. The bright and happy environment facilitates interaction between the baby, parent, and instructor.
For children aged 2 years and up, the school offers Blue and Purple Fish classes. These classes help children adjust to the water, develop independent movement, and teach basic swim stroke fundamentals and kicking skills, floating, and pool safety.
The Red and Yellow Fish classes are designed for children who are comfortable in the water and can swim with a flotation device in the horizontal position but cannot yet swim the length of the pool. In these classes, children learn to float, kick, and perform progressive arm movements across the pool. These classes are suitable for children aged 4–7 years, both beginners and advanced.
Black Fish classes are for children who can swim 10–12 metres with their face in the water without a flotation device. These classes focus on reviewing and improving stroke skills on the front, back, and side, building endurance, and teaching treading water and bilateral breathing. Advanced classes may facilitate the transition to a squad session.
In addition to classes for children, Waterlilly Swim School also offers private lessons for all ages and levels, catering to individual needs and preferences. There are also Teal Fish classes for adult swimmers who want to learn or improve their swimming skills.
Lessons at Waterlilly Swim School run during school terms, with intensive classes available during the school holidays. Families with existing enrolments are given priority for placements in the following term. Children progress through the levels as their skills develop, and instructors continuously assess their progress.
