Welcome to Warnbro Sound Walkers! We are a sports club based in Perth, Western Australia, dedicated to promoting and enjoying the benefits of walking for physical and mental wellbeing.
Our club is led by our experienced Walk Organiser, Colin, and currently has 57 members. We walk together on a weekly basis, meeting every Wednesday at 8:00 am for a medium-paced walk that lasts between 45 to 60 minutes.
We are a dog-friendly club, so feel free to bring your furry friends along for the walk. However, please note that our group is not pram or wheelchair-friendly at this time.
Our meeting point is the gazebos located on the South side of the car park, at the corner of Safety Bay Road and Warnbro Beach Road in Safety Bay, 6169. This picturesque location provides the perfect backdrop for our walks, with its beautiful coastal views.
If you are in search of a walking group in our area, look no further! We are happy to have walkers join us from nearby towns, suburbs, and postcodes. Simply type in your location, and you'll be able to find us easily.
As a club, we are proudly supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia. We believe in the power of walking as a simple but effective way to improve heart health and overall wellbeing. Walking for just 30 minutes a day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. It can also help manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, reduce the risk of certain cancers, and improve balance and coordination.
If you are a healthcare professional, we encourage you to refer your patients to our programme. Our structured and supportive walking programme complements your care and helps individuals meet national physical activity guidelines. Whether they want to walk alone or in a group, we provide the motivation and resources needed to get started.
Don't just take our word for it; hear from our members themselves. Maria, a group walker, shares her inspiring story of how walking transformed her life. After struggling with weight, diabetes, and blood pressure for years, she started with a goal of walking 5,000 steps a day. After a year, she had increased it to 15,000 steps and was no longer diabetic, with improved blood pressure.
Join our walking community today and experience the numerous benefits of walking. Stay connected with us through our Facebook group, where we share updates, tips, and support. Together, let's walk towards a healthier heart and a happier life.
