Welcome to Wallasey Golf Club, located in Wallasey, New Zealand. Established in 1891, Wallasey Golf Club is a classic English Links course with a rich history and a reputation for excellence in golfing.
Our course has a strong connexion to golfing legend Tom Morris Snr of St Andrews, who laid out the links. Since its establishment, Wallasey Golf Club has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including qualification for The Open Championship on four occasions. In fact, in 1930, Bobby Jones famously qualified for The Open Championship held at nearby Hoylake, and a portrait signed by Jones himself is proudly displayed in our Clubhouse.
The course itself, known as “The Diamond in the Dunes,” offers a traditional and challenging golfing experience. With undulating fairways, sand dunes, and far-reaching views of Liverpool Bay and the Irish Sea, players can enjoy the beauty of the Wirral Peninsula and even catch a glimpse of the Welsh Mountains. Over the years, notable golfing figures such as Alec Herd, Harold Hilton, and James Braid have made alterations to the course, ensuring its continued quality and relevance in the golfing world.
Wallasey Golf Club is committed to maintaining and developing the course to the highest standards. In 2021, four new tees were opened, and an extensive programme of bunker re-engineering and dune reinstatement was undertaken, further enhancing the golfing experience.
