VR Dance has a rich history that dates back to 1952 when it was established by Vera Robinson. The school started with its first class at Blighs Hotel and later moved to the Cornwall Halls in 1958, where it remains to this day. Over the years, the school has seen tremendous growth, with Miss Linda Pilkington joining in 1964 and Diana Thwaites, Miss Robinson's daughter, starting as a teacher in 1974. Diana eventually took over as Principal upon Miss Robinson's retirement in 1995.

In December 2012, Diana retired and passed on the reins to Kiera, who became the new Principal of VR Dance. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Kiera is a highly qualified professional who studied at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and gained her teaching qualifications with the ISTD. Her passion for dance and dedication to teaching ensure that VR Dance continues to thrive and inspire its pupils.

The teaching team at VR Dance also includes Miss Kerry, who specialises in tap and modern dance. Kerry trained at the Italia Conti Academy, gaining her ISTD teaching qualifications and has extensive experience teaching in various schools in Kent. Miss Lucy is another valuable member of the teaching team, specialising in ballet, modern, and tap dance. Lucy studied at The Centre Performing Arts College and has a deep love for dance that she shares with her students.

At VR Dance, pupils have the opportunity to take part in numerous performing events, allowing them to showcase their skills and gain valuable stage experience. The school holds regular performances, providing a platform for students to shine and build confidence.
