JiuJitsu, the “gentle art,” is the unarmed martial art of the Japanese samurai. It emphasises the efficient and intelligent use of one's body, relying on technique rather than strength. Classes in JiuJitsu cover joint locking techniques, throwing, pressure points, grappling, and striking. JiuJitsu is considered a parent art form from which other martial arts like Judo, Karate, and Aikido have developed.
Modified Kawaishi Method Judo is taught at the academy, which focuses on teaching students how to fall correctly with minimum injury, throwing techniques using leverage rather than strength, and ground grappling. Training in Judo helps develop self-discipline, mental alertness, and physical fitness.
Sil Lum Hung Kuen Chinese Boxing, a southern style Kung Fu, is also taught at the academy. Classes include empty-handed set or form work, bag and mitt training, and partnered free-exercise.
