The Victor Harbour Archery Club Indoor, also known as Victor Harbour Archery Club Inc, was established in 2013 with the aim of promoting, expanding, and perpetuating the practise of Target, Field, and Indoor Archery in South Australia. Located in Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula, approximately 81 kilometres from Adelaide, the club provides a picturesque setting for archery enthusiasts.
The outdoor Target field is set amidst a stunning rural backdrop of farmland, featuring a lush green oval and majestic gums, creating a pleasant atmosphere for both practise and competition. The club is dedicated to following the regulations, conditions, and method of play as set by Archery Australia, ensuring a fair and standardised experience for all members.
In 2021, the club realised a long-awaited dream with the construction of a combined Club Rooms and Indoor shooting facility. This state-of-the-art upgrade was made possible through funding from the State Government Infrastructure Project Grant Programme and the Victor Harbour Council. The new facility offers archers and visitors a more comfortable and flexible environment for their activities.
The Victor Harbour Archery Club is committed to ongoing improvements and sustainability. Future plans include the implementation of solar energy to power lights and equipment, rainwater collection for kitchen needs, and the use of gas. These initiatives aim to reduce the club's environmental impact while enhancing the overall archery experience.
A notable member of the Victor Harbour Archery Club is Pat Coghlan, a twice World Record holder who currently ranks in the top 20 of the World Archery ranking list. His expertise and dedication to the sport inspire fellow archers, and he also runs Pat's Archery store, offering guidance and equipment to fellow members.
The club extends an invitation to individuals of all levels of experience, whether beginners, new members, or visitors, to join them in the pursuit of archery. The Victor Harbour Archery Club prides itself on being a socially active and family-oriented club, fostering a spirit of camaraderie among its members.
Graham Potts, the President for 2021, welcomes everyone to experience the transformative power of archery. He believes that archery is not just a sport, but a life skill that enriches the lives of those who practise it.
Important information for visitors and archers includes the prohibition of pets within the VHAC grounds. Additionally, the club operates on a cash-only basis, with no EFTPOS available on site.
For updates and news, individuals can refer to the “News and Updates” section on the club's social media and website. The club also offers a beginners course for those interested in learning the “Art of Archery,” with the next course scheduled for Saturday, 3rd February 2024.
The Victor Harbour Archery Club takes pride in its associations with various organisations and is proud to be associated with them.
