Kickboxing Aerobics offers an aerobic-style workout with punching and kicking combos, and Combat STEP Aerobics is a boxing-inspired aerobics class that takes place on a fitness STEP. VFC also provides classes such as Pelvic Floor, Core & Stretch, which aims to strengthen pelvic floor and stomach muscles, and Stretch & Relax, a total body stretch class for improved mobility and flexibility. Tabata is a full-body high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, and PIYO is a cardio-infused combination of Pilates and yoga.
Tara Hegarty, the founder of VFC, started her fitness journey at the young age of 16. At that time, she was overweight, had zero self-esteem and confidence, and struggled with emotional eating. Determined to make a change, she purchased an exercise DVD and started her fitness journey in her own home. Despite facing initial challenges and being out of breath during the warm-up, Tara persevered and slowly built up her fitness level over time.
As she became fitter, Tara noticed positive changes in her physical and mental well-being. She experienced improved asthma symptoms, bought smaller clothes, and felt healthier and happier overall. Inspired by her own transformation and the benefits of exercise, Tara decided to get a treadmill and taught herself to run. She eventually reached a point where she could run three miles non-stop every evening, and her asthma was completely cured.
However, Tara also experienced a period of obsession with being skinny, which led to unhealthy habits. Through personal growth and self-reflection, she learned the importance of balance, self-love, and adopting a healthy approach to fitness. This experience not only shaped her as a fitness professional but also inspired her to create a safe and welcoming environment at VFC.
