Vantage Jiu-Jitsu was founded in 2018 by Adam Childs and Renata Solano. Adam Childs, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Alliance head coach Fabio Gurgel, holds a unique position as the only non-native South American to teach at the prestigious Alliance headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With a passion for teaching Jiu-Jitsu in an ever-evolving environment, Childs saw an opportunity to create Vantage Jiu-Jitsu and provide a top-tier BJJ experience.
Childs brings a wealth of martial arts experience to Vantage. He trained in various disciplines such as Hapkido and Muay Thai in his youth. However, it wasn't until 2010 that he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and decided to dedicate himself fully to this art. Childs moved to Sao Paulo, the birthplace of BJJ, in 2011, and joined Team Alliance. During his time studying at Alliance, he received exclusive mentorship from Fabio Gurgel himself, training with renowned champions from around the world.
Fully bilingual in English and Portuguese, Childs has a unique advantage. He can translate and understand deep BJJ concepts from some of the greatest minds in combat sports. His international connections allow him to connect with past, present, and future champions, bringing their knowledge and expertise back to Sydney. Childs, having achieved remarkable success on the competition circuit, is now focused on helping his students reach their goals.
