Vanshaw Academy of Irish Dance SE is Calgary's ONLY Open Platform Irish Dance School, offering both recreational and competitive classes for dancers of all ages, from 3 to 93. Located in SW and SE Calgary, the academy welcomes students from diverse backgrounds who share a love for Irish dance.
The academy is currently enrolling students for the upcoming 2023-2024 season, with limited spots available. Those interested can sign up for the 8-week sampler session or summer sessions to experience the joy of Irish dance. One does not need to be Irish to join - the studio values inclusivity and welcomes dancers of all backgrounds.
For young children ages 4-7 who are interested in trying Irish dance, the academy offers an 8-week beginner session in February in Woodcreek. This is a perfect opportunity for parents who are hesitant to commit to a full 10-month program. The session will focus on Irish music and dance, providing a fun and enriching experience for young dancers.
In addition to kids' classes, Vanshaw Academy of Irish Dance SE also offers ReelRobics classes for adults, held every Monday. These classes provide a great workout while learning traditional Irish dance steps and movements. Founded in 2022 by Stephanie Henshaw, the academy is dedicated to sharing the beauty and joy of Irish dance with the Calgary community.
