Founded in 2015, the Vancouver Girls Basketball Association (VGBA) is a well-established basketball club based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The club focuses on providing a supportive and inclusive environment for high school girls to develop their basketball skills and passion for the game. With a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork, VGBA aims to empower young female athletes both on and off the court.
One of the key initiatives of VGBA is the annual Langara Challenge, held every January, where student athletes from various schools come together to compete and showcase their talent. The club also offers spring break camps and fall pre-season leagues for girls in grades 7-12, providing opportunities for players to hone their skills and build camaraderie with teammates.
In addition to fostering athletic development, Vancouver Girls Basketball Association has established scholarships in partnership with Langara College to support players pursuing post-secondary education while continuing to play basketball. These scholarships not only recognize athletic achievement but also academic excellence and community involvement.
VGBA is committed to nurturing the next generation of female basketball players in Vancouver, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed both on and off the court. Whether it's through competitive games, skills development camps, or community initiatives, the club strives to create a positive and empowering environment for young girls to grow and thrive in their basketball journey.
