About
The Vancouver Climbers Association (VCA), spearheaded by Alex Thompson, is steadily growing a dynamic climbing community in Vancouver. Through events like clinics, film showings, gear sharing, and meetups, Alex ensures climbers have platforms to learn and connect.
Alex’s mission focuses on redefining climbing access, aiming to make the sport inclusive and welcoming for everyone. VCA’s skills clinics support new climbers transitioning from gyms to outdoor crags, showcasing the beauty of Vancouver’s climbing scene.
VCA stands firm on decolonisation and reconciling with First Nations and Urban Indigenous communities. Operating on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, VCA partners with these communities to ensure respectful and sustainable climbing practices.
Memberships are pay-what-you-can, providing exclusive benefits like gear shares and clinic access. Special membership options are available for First Nations/Indigenous individuals, minimalists, students, and full-time workers.
Join the Vancouver Climbers Association and contribute to a strong, inclusive climbing community that values connection, education, and sustainable access to Vancouver's outdoor areas.
