About

Vancouver Aikikai is a non-profit Aikido Dojo located in Vancouver, BC, Canada at the Renfrew Community Centre on 2929 East 22nd Ave. The Dojo offers classes for individuals interested in Aikido, a Japanese martial art that focuses on harmonizing with an opponents energy to neutralize and control them.

The Dojo welcomes individuals of all skill levels to come and observe or try a class. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive before the class begins and introduce themselves to the instructor. Loose-fitting clothes that allow for movement, such as sweatpants and a t-shirt, are recommended attire for training. The first class is free for those new to Aikido, providing an opportunity to experience the practice firsthand.

In addition to regular classes, Vancouver Aikikai also hosts Aikido seminars and events. These activities provide an opportunity for practitioners to deepen their knowledge and skills in Aikido. The Dojo also organizes special events such as Kagami Biraki, a traditional Aikido ceremony to celebrate the start of a new year of practice.

The Chief Instructor at Vancouver Aikikai is Zoran Krunic, who leads the classes and ensures a supportive and welcoming environment for all students. For further details about classes, events, or any inquiries, individuals can contact Jean Lemire.

Vancouver Aikikai aims to create a community of Aikido practitioners who are dedicated to personal growth, physical fitness, and mental discipline through the practice of Aikido. The Dojo is committed to honouring the principles of Aikido and providing a safe and inclusive space for individuals to learn and practice this martial art.
