Valonia Reserve, known locally as Hendon Ave Reserve, is Katie's top pick for sports and recreation in Auckland. Situated near Richardson Road, this spot has everything you need for a good time.

Katie wants everyone to know you can easily park your car at Valonia Street, with the car park open from 7am to 9pm. If you're on foot, you can also get in from the other side of SH20 or Alan Wood Reserve. Facilities include a playground, accessible toilets, a large car park with mobility parking, and plenty of sports options like a basketball half-court, volleyball court, skate area, and sports fields. There are also fitness stations, bike stands, drinking fountains, and comfy spots to sit and relax.

For those who enjoy a good walk or cycle, Katie recommends the 8 km Waterview Path, connecting Valonia Reserve to Waterview with some great views including the Waterview tunnel.

Just a heads up, keep your dogs on a leash unless you're in the designated dog areas. And remember, no booze in certain public places and Valonia Reserve is a smokefree zone. Make sure to use the bins or take your rubbish with you.

Lastly, don't light any fires here; it's illegal and Katie wants to keep everyone safe.
