Uxbridge Senior & Junior Chess Club

Daniel Knight invites the sports community to join the vibrant Uxbridge Senior & Junior Chess Club. This well-established club in Uxbridge offers separate sections for seniors and juniors, accommodating various age groups and skill levels.

The Uxbridge Juniors, proud winners of the ECF Junior Club of the Year 2021, meet every Friday at the Church Hall of Our Lady of Lourdes on Osborn Rd. Beginners can attend from 5pm to 6:15pm, and intermediate and advanced players from 6:15pm to 7:30pm. The club offers a range of chess activities. Mondays feature online lessons by FM Rishpal catering to different skill levels from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, ending with an advanced class and tournament led by CM David Okike. Wednesdays offer over-the-board classes at The Ivy Leaf, starting with Coach Colin’s session at 6pm, and continuing with the seniors from 7pm. On Fridays, additional over-the-board classes are available at Our Lady of Lourdes. Beginners meet from 5pm to 6:15pm, and intermediate and advanced players from 6:30pm onwards.

Chess offers numerous benefits, particularly for children, enhancing their learning, analytical abilities, and decision-making skills. It also improves foresight, discipline, mental clarity, memory, concentration, and academic performance. By promoting chess, Daniel aims to nurture responsible and wise individuals.

The club provides experienced coaches and all necessary equipment, including chess boards, pieces, and scoresheets. They organise team matches against other clubs, both in-person and online, and offer juniors the chance to participate in various internal and external tournaments.

Classes are reasonably priced at £5 per lesson, with private lessons available at an additional cost. Sessions are conveniently held at The Ivy Leaf on Wednesdays and at the Church Hall of Our Lady of Lourdes on Fridays, with ample parking in surrounding streets and the Pavilions car park.
