The founder and head coach of Urban Athlete, Matt Walker, has an impressive background in coaching and athletics. Beginning his coaching career as a snowboard instructor in California, Matt later joined the British Army and passed Commando training, earning him the right to wear the coveted Green Beret and Commando Dagger. After serving in the military, Matt relocated to Sydney's Northern Beaches, where he became one of Australia's most highly qualified personal trainers.

With over 20 years of professional coaching experience, Matt is sought after by athletes from various disciplines, including tennis, rugby, mixed martial arts, jiu-jitsu, muay thai, adventure/mountain sports, and special forces soldiers. He has achieved the prestigious POLIQUIN P-I-C-P level 4 certification, making him one of a select few in Australia to reach this level of expertise.

Despite his impressive background and qualifications, Matt prides himself on getting great results with all clients, regardless of their starting point. Over the years, he has received only 5-star reviews for his dedication and ability to help clients achieve their goals. Matt's passion for athletics is evident in his own participation in a wide range of sports, including snowboarding, skiing, rugby, tennis, jiu-jitsu, triathlon, trail running, boxing, mountain biking, surfing, and weightlifting.

In addition to coaching individual clients, Matt has conducted group workshops, retreats, seminars, and personal trainer certification courses all over the world. He has travelled to countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Greece, Switzerland, France, the USA, the UK, Australia, and Finland to share his expertise with others.

With an extensive list of qualifications, including certifications in strength coaching, personal training, exercise coaching, and nutrition advisory, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to his coaching. He is dedicated to helping clients build resilient, lean, and healthy bodies, while also fostering an adventurous and positive mindset.
