UQ Playing Field 4, also known as the “Home of UQHC,” is a hockey field located in St Lucia, Australia. It is the proud home of the University of Queensland Hockey Club (UQHC), a family-oriented sporting club with over 600 members. The field has a rich history, being established in 1912, and is renowned for its vibrant hockey community.

Preparations for the 2024 season are already underway at UQHC. Online registration is now open, and players are encouraged to order their uniforms and merchandise online before January 8th to ensure delivery before the start of the season. The club also recently announced coaching appointments, with Amy Ryan appointed as the new coach of the BHL1 men's team, assisted by Max Diamond, and Alan Bolton stepping up to coach the BHL2 men's team. Additionally, club legend Greg Collins has taken on the role of coach for the leading League 1 UQHC women's team.
In terms of club leadership, the recent AGM saw Richard James re-elected as President, Peter Billings as Vice-President, and Karen Nixon as club secretary. The club also welcomed new general members Annabelle van Eck and Tracey McCormick to the Board, while expressing thanks and appreciation to outgoing members Tara Rasmussen, Brett Holland, Eliza White, Sam Howitt, and Kylie O'Donohue. UQHC is actively seeking individuals to fill the roles of men's chair and women's chair for 2024.
As part of its commitment to the development of junior players, UQHC offers a pre-season hockey development camp for junior turf players aged 13+. The camp, held on January 27th and 28th, features a talented lineup of coaches, including Nikki Taylor, Morgan Gallagher, and Mitch Nicholson. Registration for the camp will open soon, and spaces are limited to 50.

Additionally, UQHC is passionate about introducing kids to hockey through its “Hockey 4 Kids” programme. Registrations for this programme are now open, providing a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the joys of hockey from an early age.
The success and achievements of UQHC are exemplified by the recent debut of Tatum Stewart and Morgan Gallagher in the Hockeyroos, Australia's national women's hockey team. They joined fellow Red Roos Claire Colwill, Meg Pearce, and Beck Greiner in representing the country in a 3-test match against China held in Perth. UQHC takes immense pride in their accomplishments and commends their hard work and dedication.
