The U of A Outdoor Gym is a state-of-the-art fitness facility located on the east side of the Humanities Building at the University of Alberta. This outdoor gym is part of the university's Healthy University Strategic Plan and represents a collaboration between the Healthy Campus Unit, Campus & Community Recreation, and Facilities and Operations.
The U of A Outdoor Gym features a circuit setup with five pieces of equipment, including a lat pulldown, plyometric boxes, log hop station, situp/back extension station, and pushup/row station. Each station is equipped with a QR code that links to instructional videos on how to properly use the equipment, making it accessible to all skill levels.
This outdoor gym is open to all and is available 24/7 at no cost. In addition to individual use, Campus & Community Recreation offers fitness programs using the equipment for U of A staff, students, and community members.
