Unity Aikido Association Broken Hill is a sports club that offers Aikido classes for individuals of all ages and skill levels. It is a style of Japanese Martial Way that has been developed from the teachings of Master Professor Kenji Tomiki, the founder of the Japan Aikido Association. The technical direction and syllabus of Unity Aikido are under the leadership of Hanifa Leoni Macfarlane Sensei, who holds the esteemed rank of 7th Dan Unity Aikido and 8th Dan Japan Aikido Association.
The club offers classes in two locations, Hobart and Broken Hill. In Hobart, the classes are held at the Buckingham Bowls Club in New Town. Instructor James Carolan Sensei is in charge of the Hobart classes. The schedule includes a general class for adults and older children on Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm, as well as a class for adults and older children on Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

In Broken Hill, interested individuals can contact Sensei Hanifa Macfarlane for class times, fees, and details. The contact number is 0413 425 852. Class fees in Tasmania are $20 per class, and an annual membership of UAAInc. Is required for all students to ensure insurance coverage.
The membership fees are $75 for adults, $35 for kids, and $15 for the second family member.
Unity Aikido Association Broken Hill has a team of experienced and dedicated instructors. Hanifa Leoni Macfarlane Sensei is the Headmaster and a 7th Dan Unity Aikido and 8th Dan Japan Aikido Association. In addition to Sensei Macfarlane, the team includes James Carolan, a 4th Dan Unity Aikido instructor in charge of the Hobart classes, and Carol Phillips and Christine Benbow, both 2nd Dan Unity Aikido instructors. There is also Dr Lito Mercado, a 1st Dan Unity Aikido instructor.
All instructors have received their training from renowned masters and are highly skilled in the art of Aikido.
Unity Aikido is based on the system developed by Professor Kenji Tomiki, who was a Master of Aikido and Judo and the founder of the Japan Aikido Association. The style incorporates the Seven Stages of growth and skill in Aikido. Sensei Macfarlane is a direct student of Tomiki Sensei and has studied under other masters of the way of Aiki. Aikido, meaning Harmony Energy/Spirit, is a development of a traditional Japanese fighting art called Aiki Jujitsu.
Master Tomiki studied Aikido under its founder, Master sensei Morihei Ueyshiba, and his style of Aikido has a technical relationship to the Judo of Master Jigaro Kano.
Unity Aikido Association Broken Hill is affiliated with the Australian Jujitsu Federation, which is responsible for delivering the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme under the Australian Sports Commission. The Unity Aikido senseis are NCAS accredited and hold Dan ranks in Unity Aikido.
