At the United Kingdom Seiki-Juku Karate Organisation (UKSKO), our main goal is to cultivate the true spirit of Karate. Seiki-Juku translates to 'True Spirit', which reflects our belief that Karate is more than just a combat sport. It is a way of life, teaching us to let go of pride, prejudice, and selfish desires.
We believe that Karate is not just about physical strength but also about developing mental fortitude. Students within our organisation, known as Karate-Ka, are encouraged to cultivate their mental powers (Kokryu) so that nothing may ever over-awe them. This holistic approach to training ensures that our students not only become physically strong but also morally upright individuals.
Classical Karate, as taught at UKSKO, serves as a means of combat and self-defence. However, it also instils a morally correct state of mind through repetitious training. We emphasise that the true understanding of Karate-Do can only be achieved through rigorous and dedicated practise.
Unlike some other schools, we do not prioritise championship tournaments or artificial combat over the true essence of Karate. Our teachers and students are devoted to training and helping each other, with contests being optional for those who wish to test their nerve and prowess.
We believe in the quality over quantity approach and seek controlled expansion to ensure that each student receives individual attention. This sets us apart from other Karate schools, as we prioritise the growth and progress of our students above all else.
