Unicorn Athletic JFC, based at Smiths Field in Timperley, is an FA Charter Standard Football Club that aims to provide a safe and well-organised platform for all ages and abilities to play football. At Unicorn Athletic JFC, all sessions are run by DBS checked, FA qualified coaches to ensure the safety and development of the players. The club welcomes boys and girls from 5 to 8 years of age to train and play at their popular Saturday Club. This club offers a friendly and fun environment for younger footballers to learn skills and make new friends. As the children grow older, they have the opportunity to be integrated into small-sided teams and play indoor matches against other local clubs.
The Saturday Club is open to boys and girls from reception to year 3. Licenced FA coaches are present during the sessions to create an enjoyable playing environment with the emphasis on fun, friendship, and football. Unicorn Athletic JFC operates on a pay-as-you-play system, without any long-term commitment. Studded boots and shin pads are required for all players, while warm, showerproof clothing is recommended.
Non-fizzy drinks are advised for hydration, although drinks are available for purchase on site. Spectators can also purchase warm food and drinks.
All sessions take place at Smiths Field, off Sylvan Avenue in Timperley, from 9:30am to 11:30am every Saturday morning. Unicorn Athletic JFC relies on dedicated volunteers to assist with coaching and managing teams, and parents/carers are encouraged to get involved. The club even offers support for adults to gain FA coaching qualifications to continue providing opportunities for local children.
Finding the club is easy, as Smiths Field is located off Sylvan Avenue, Timperley, WA15 6AE. Directions can be followed from Park Road (B5165), travelling down Greenway Road, then turning left onto Tabley Grove. The access road leads to the changing rooms and car park. Smiths Field is the home ground for various teams, including the second team, u17 Dragons, u15 Storm, u15 Thunder, u14 Razors, u9 Jets, u9 Rockets, and the Saturday Club.
