Undy AFC is a football club located in Undy Village, just 4 miles west of Caldicot and 5 miles east of the Coldra roundabout in Caldicot, New Zealand. The club has a thriving senior section as well as a successful junior section.
The history of Undy AFC dates back to 1947 when it was formed by Mr. Joe Champion, Mr. Lambert Bird, Mr. Harry Hodges, and others.
At that time, the changing facilities were located in Undy Church Hall, and the club colours were black and white. The club had a successful period between 1947 and 1962, winning the Argus Shield three times. Unfortunately, due to lack of support, the club was disbanded in 1962.
In 1970, Undy AFC was reformed with the strong support of individuals like Mr. John King, Mr. Percy Pope, Mr. Malcolm Pope, and the club's president Mr.
J. Smith. The tote organiser, Mr. Bob Scrivens, played a crucial role in keeping the club financially stable for over a decade.
During this time, a new junior section was also established under the leadership of Mr. Bernard Smith and Mr. Alf Little.
From 1970 to 1981, Undy Football Club operated without any team managers. Instead, a selection committee would pick the teams each week. In 1981, the club hired its first official manager, Mr. Dave Segal.
In 1974, new changing facilities were built on the playing fields, replacing the tin bath that was previously used for washing.
Undy AFC is proud of its achievements and continues to grow and develop both on and off the field. The club has won numerous accolades, including being crowned champions of the Caldicot and District pool A league. The senior section of the club is overseen by dedicated individuals such as the Club Chairman, Club Vice Chairman, Club Secretary, and Club Welfare Officer.
The junior section of Undy AFC is led by the Head of Junior Football and Tournament, Juniors Secretary, Juniors Treasurer, and Juniors Accreditation and Fixtures Secretary. The club has also established a Girls Secretary position to support and promote girls' participation in football.
Undy AFC is passionate about creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for players of all ages and abilities. The club's commitment to grassroots football is evident through its involvement in regional tournaments, partnerships with local organisations, and dedication to providing opportunities for young players to develop their skills.
Undy AFC welcomes all individuals who share a love for football and who are passionate about being part of a community-focused club. Whether you're a player, supporter, or sponsor, Undy AFC offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a football club that is more than just a club, but a true community in Caldicot.
