The cottages themselves are pretty cosy, too – one sleeps four people and has underfloor heating, a log-burning stove, and en-suites in both double bedrooms. The other cottage is great for five to six guests, with a vaulted living room and dining room, plus a newly fitted kitchen. Both come with enclosed gardens and patio areas for some chill downtime.

The rides at Ullswater Saddleback range in difficulty, so there’s something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned rider. Safety's key, and all routes are checked out before each ride. The easygoing Grade 1 rides cover grassy tracks and open fells, perfect for a mix of walking, trotting, and cantering.
