With the changing face of golf worldwide, Tynemouth Golf Club embraces new rules and innovations to make the game more enjoyable for all. The club encourages speed golf, mixed competitions, and easier playing options. With the support of its members, the club is confident in moving forward successfully.
Situated just minutes from the beautiful village of Tynemouth, recently voted one of the best villages to visit in the country, Tynemouth Golf Club boasts one of the most attractive “parkland courses” in the North East. This par 70, 18-hole course provides a fair challenge to golfers of all levels. The course record of 64 shows that it's not as simple as it first appears.
Tynemouth Golf Club is committed to continuous improvement and maintenance. Planned upgrades throughout winter include path upgrades, drainage work, and bunker improvements. Additionally, the club has recently added a new outside terrace, which has proven to be extremely popular with both members and visitors. The terrace hosts various events, including the popular “tunes on the terrace” during the summer months, where different artists perform alfresco.
Future plans also include further improvements to the clubhouse.
Membership at Tynemouth Golf Club is thriving at all levels. From new starters to juniors, low handicap to senior golfers, the club offers a range of options to cater to everyone's needs. The club is well represented at County and Regional level and participates in multiple leagues. The club's professional, John McKenna, oversees the adult “academy” for beginners, which has been a great success.
The club extends its thanks to the mentors and members who support this initiative. The junior academy, led by John, is also thriving and continues to encourage young golfers to enjoy the game and the club.
