Tuam Golf Club

Tuam Golf Club, founded in 1904, is renowned as one of the top parkland courses in the country. The challenging tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkers, and undulating greens provide a test for golfers of all skill levels. The club holds a special place in history as it was the first golf club where the late Christy O'Connor Snr served as the golf professional. Christy Snr, a legendary figure in Irish golf, began his association with Tuam Golf Club in the late 1940s and quickly established himself as a top instructor.

Throughout his career, Christy Snr provided lessons not only to members of Tuam Golf Club but also to golfers from neighbouring clubs. He was a founding member of the Irish Professional Golfing Association (IPGA) and went on to achieve great success in professional tournaments, including more than 60 wins and multiple appearances in the Ryder Cup matches. Despite his impressive career, Christy Snr always held a special connexion to Tuam Golf Club, where he began his journey as a golf professional.

In honour of Christy Snr's legacy, Tuam Golf Club plans to commemorate his 70th anniversary as a recognised golf professional in 2021.
