Welcome to Troon TaeKwonDo, a reputable martial arts school located in Troon, New Zealand. As proud members of TAGB Scotland and the TAGB, Troon TaeKwonDo offers top-quality TaeKwonDo training for individuals of all ages and skill levels.

The school is led by Instructor Iain Harley, a highly experienced practitioner with a 3rd Degree Black Belt. With over 11 years of training in Tae Kwon-do and a background in Shukokai and Shotokai Karate, Iain brings a wealth of expertise to the school. He initially switched to Tae Kwon-do after his wife, son, and daughter started training at Prestwick Tae Kwon-do under Mr. Kulwant Chahal, a 5th Degree Black Belt.

Throughout his journey in Tae Kwon-do, Iain has achieved considerable success in competitions. He has won bronze medals at the 2013 Welsh Open and Scottish Open Championship. In 2014, he became the Scottish Champion at the Scottish Closed Championships. Iain's dedication to his training led him to pass his 1st Degree Black Belt grading and subsequently complete official TAGB instructor and umpires courses.

He is fully PVG checked and first-aid certified.

Apart from his leadership role at Troon TaeKwonDo, Iain has also assisted various instructors throughout Ayrshire. He regularly takes over classes when regular instructors are unable to attend and provides one-on-one sessions for students approaching grading time.

Iain strongly believes in the power of Tae Kwon-do as a family activity. He has witnessed firsthand how families training together support and motivate each other throughout the training and grading syllabus. This inclusive approach has made Troon TaeKwonDo a welcoming and supportive community.

During the coronavirus lockdown in March 2020, Iain adapted the club's training by shifting it online using Zoom for regular group sessions and one-on-one sessions. This ensured that the students could continue their training and preparation for when classes returned to normal.

In October 2020, Iain and his son Ieuan both completed their black belt gradings, with Ieuan becoming the first Troon TaeKwonDo student to achieve a 1st Degree Black Belt. Iain also successfully completed his 2nd Degree Black Belt grading. In April 2023, Iain was promoted to 3rd Degree Black Belt at the TAGB National Dan Grading at Hellindon Lakes, Daventry.

Troon TaeKwonDo prides itself on providing a modern martial art focused on fitness and fun. The school's training times are as follows: Tuesdays from 6 to 6:45 pm and 7 to 7:45 pm, and Fridays from 6 to 6:45 pm and 7 to 7:45 pm. The venue for the training sessions is Troon Primary School on Barassie Street, Troon KA10 6LX.
