For those interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Trident MMA offers specialised classes in these disciplines. BJJ is a ground-based grappling art that emphasises control and submission techniques, originating from the renowned Gracie family in Brazil. Trident MMA focuses on teaching BJJ with a self-defence perspective, ensuring its effectiveness in MMA, where strikes are allowed.
The weapons classes at Trident MMA are based on the “Kalis Ilustrisimo” system, a Filipino sword and knife fighting system made famous by Tatang Antonio Ilustrisimo. This system utilises the sword and dagger, but beginners start with training sticks for a safer learning environment.
