Trevor Rocks Quarry, located in Llangollen, North Wales, is a popular rock climbing destination in the area. Situated on the Eglwyseg escarpment, it is a prominent landmark along the panoramic road. The quarry is ideally positioned for climbers to make a short visit, either as a warm-up before heading to other nearby climbing spots such as Dinbren, or as an evening excursion.
The quarry features two main walls for climbing. The west-facing wall is characterised by its slabby nature, with a notable crawl terrace. Climbers can expect bold routes on good slabby black limestone here. On the other hand, the south-facing wall offers vertical routes that are more challenging in nature.
While there is some in-situ gear available, currently the routes do not have lower-offs, so climbers must rely on stakes at the top of the cliff for belaying.
There are two approaches to reach Trevor Rocks Quarry from Llangollen. One option is to take the road out of Llangollen by the taxidermist shop and follow Dinbren Road for about 2 miles until reaching a T-junction. From there, turn right and continue on the single track road until the quarry is visible on the left-hand side, followed by a sharp left-hand bend and a convenient parking place. Alternatively, climbers can take the road out of Llangollen towards Ruabon until reaching the Sun Trevor pub on the left-hand side.
Turn there and follow the steep road, past a sharp left bend to reach another T-junction. From there, the quarry will be situated just above, a little further on from the left-hand bend.
As of August 2023, Trevor Rocks Quarry has a total of 516 pages on its website, with 397 dedicated to topo pages. The quarry is regularly updated with new information and topos for climbers' convenience.
