Transit Dance

Transit Dance, located in Brunswick, is one of the largest dance training organisations in Australia. They offer nationally recognised qualifications and aim to train and transition students into their dance careers. With world-class teaching faculty, small class sizes, and a focus on career progression, Transit Dance provides 100% performance-based courses for students serious about pursuing a career in dance.

Their courses include a two-year full-time training programme focusing on Jazz technique, choreography, and performance, which leads to a Diploma of Professional Dance upon completion. They also offer a two-year full-time programme focusing on Contemporary technique, performance, and creation, resulting in a Diploma of Professional Dance. In addition, they provide a two-year full-time course that equally emphasises singing, dancing, and acting, leading to a Diploma of Musical Theatre. For high school students, Transit Dance offers a full-time course that serves as an alternative option, guiding them through their secondary education while providing elite dance training.

Transit Dance recently welcomed Andrew Hallsworth, a multi-award winning choreographer, as Head of Musical Theatre and Dance from 2024. With decades of performance experience and numerous accolades, Hallsworth brings a wealth of expertise to the institute. His contributions will shape the Pre-Professional Musical Theatre and Dance (Performing Arts) courses alongside Course Coordinator, Jillian Green. Hallsworth's choreographic achievements include working on shows such as Muriels Wedding The Musical and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Transit Dance is housed in a custom-designed 4000 square metre dance centre in Brunswick's education and design district. The facility features eight large rehearsal studios, a two-story office complex, an open plan gymnasium, classrooms, a photography studio, and an expansive foyer with exhibition space. Additionally, the centre boasts its very own 180-seat black box theatre, providing an inspiring environment for dancers to train and perform.
