The TRAILBLAZERS Tandem Cycling Club prides itself on its mission to provide recreational cycling opportunities to individuals with limited or no vision. With a dedicated team of sighted volunteer captains riding up front with blind, deaf-blind, or partially sighted stokers on club-owned tandems, the club promotes inclusivity and physical health for all members.
Founded in 1986, the TRAILBLAZERS Tandem Cycling Club has been a key player in the Mississauga cycling community for over 35 years. As a registered charity, the club is committed to fostering a sense of community and providing recreational opportunities for individuals who may face barriers to traditional cycling.
The club's Board of Directors and organization membership predominantly consist of blind and vision-impaired individuals, highlighting the importance of representation within the organization. Through impromptu recreational rides, scheduled group rides, orientations, and social events, the TRAILBLAZERS offer a variety of activities for members to enjoy.
Safety is a top priority for the TRAILBLAZERS Tandem Cycling Club, with orientation sessions provided for new members and volunteers. All tandems are meticulously maintained, with tool kits available for minor repairs and access to qualified mechanics for more extensive adjustments.
Whether you are looking to volunteer as a captain, become a club member, or simply join for a ride in the park, the TRAILBLAZERS Tandem Cycling Club welcomes individuals of all skill levels to share in the joy of tandem cycling with a supportive and inclusive community.
