Traditional Shotokan Karate-Do Federation Southern Adelaide, a sports club in Adelaide, is a branch of the larger Traditional Shotokan Karate-Do Federation Australia (TSKFA). As a Shotokan-based and not-for-profit karate organisation, TSKFA follows the original teachings of founder Gichin Funakoshi and the late Master Nakayama. The club strongly believes in the principle of respecting karate, which means that respect should be followed from the beginning to the end of one's karate journey.
TSKFA promotes strong moral principles, traditional etiquette, and the encouragement of goodwill and harmony among all karateka. With an “open-door” policy, the club welcomes like-minded Shotokan karate groups to train and attend seminars. This inclusive approach allows members to benefit from opportunities to learn traditional karate, increase their fitness, flexibility, and coordination, and receive excellent quality training from fully accredited instructors.
Members also have the chance to train with resident high-profile Japanese instructors who visit Australia twice a year. TSKFA provides the platform for members to train and compete in various competitions and annual National Titles. Being part of TSKFA means being part of a traditional activity steeped in culture and joining a karate family of like-minded individuals.
TSKFA offers friendly, reliable, and competent clubs with credibility and prestige. Members can enjoy the benefits of joining a karate family and meet and network with like-minded individuals. The club provides a good standard of facilities and services and offers regular grading opportunities, with members able to grade up to four times per year. It is a great sporting activity suitable for all family members, offering value for money membership.
Several opportunities are available for members to train and compete at local, state, national, and international levels. Members also have the chance to travel to other centres and expand their skills, including self-defence and discipline. Joining TSKFA allows individuals to gain self-confidence, respect for others, and strengthen their mind, body, and spirit. The club adheres to safe practises, including child protection and has insurance policies covering all members.
In addition, TSKFA invites other like-minded Shotokan groups to join their members and participate in their events and training seminars. This collaborative approach allows for a greater exchange of knowledge and skills among all practitioners of Shotokan Karate.
Overall, Traditional Shotokan Karate-Do Federation Southern Adelaide provides a dedicated and supportive environment for individuals to learn and practise traditional karate while fostering respect, moral values, and harmony.
