The Towns Villains Roller Derby League, a local roller derby club in Townsville, is excited to announce their upcoming event! This not-for-profit league has been running since April 2009 and is entirely run by the skaters, for the skaters. As a part of the Flat Track Roller Derby League of Australia, TVRD is committed to promoting the sport and building a strong roller derby community.
Currently, TVRD is on the lookout for new players, referees, and volunteers to join their dynamic team. If you're a female over the age of 18, no matter your age or experience level, you're welcome to hop on board and give roller derby a go! For those interested in volunteering, both males and females are encouraged to get involved. Referees and coaches must be 18 and above.
Wondering what sets TVRD apart? Well, their training program is designed with women of all shapes and sizes in mind. They understand that everyone starts at a different fitness level, so they gradually increase the intensity of training at a comfortable pace. Rest assured, you don't need any prior skating experience to join. TVRD's experienced team will be more than happy to teach you everything you need to know. And if you'd like to get a head start, consider signing up for learn-to-skate sessions at Willows on Wheels.
Training sessions are held on Sundays from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm, and Thursdays from 8pm to 10pm at Willows on 12 Parkside St, Condon. It's important to note that there is an annual membership fee, which includes insurance. This fee is due at the beginning of each year. The cost per training session is typically $10 but is subject to change.
For any additional information or inquiries, feel free to reach out to TVRD via email. They'll be more than happy to provide you with all the necessary details. So, lace up those skates and get ready to be part of the Towns Villains Roller Derby League! Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and passionate community of roller derby enthusiasts.
