Toshikai Dojo, located in Nepean, has been offering martial arts instruction to the Ottawa community since 1997. Specializing in traditional Isshinryu Karate, Toshikai Dojo provides students with the opportunity to train with 14 black belts ranging from 1st to 6th degree.
Self-defence classes at Toshikai Dojo are designed to teach students how to protect themselves using Karate fundamentals. Instructors, including Shihan Tim Leonard, Sensei Shane Hale, and Sensei Deb Fuchek, aim to help students develop a martial arts base that can be applied in real-world situations.
Classes at Toshikai Dojo focus on traditional Karate, self-defence, and weapon proficiency. Students can also participate in weapon training using weapons such as the Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Jo, Knife, and Arnis.
